I went to visit my grandpa today and he was very interested in my GTI. After thoughourly looking it over, and checking to make sure I still owned the Camaro, we went for a drive. He loved it. “ I felt like we were going to take off!” He said.

Grandpa worked for General Motors for many years but he owned a few Audis and VWs before going to work for GM. Since then it has been all GM for the whole family.

Owning something other than a GM car in this family is a big deal. See the family picture below for verification.

So much Equinox. Oof.

But GM just didn’t have what I wanted for a new daily driver. I’ve owned the GTI for a little over two months now and I can’t imagine a better car for my needs. It’s fast, fun, practical, good looking, and Mrs. Trickjos likes driving  it too.

Yeah, I’ve figured we aren’t far apart. I live in the Belmont neighborhood of Dayton. We probably have seen each other. I’m going to start waving wildly at othe GTIs so that you’ll know if it’s me! If it isn’t you people will just think I’m weird, which is accurate. 

There’s somebody else here that lives in Beavercreek, don’t remember their name, but I recognize the neighborhood. It’s always weird to me when I see things on the internet that I know from real life haha!

I like the VW crashing the GM family. On a somewhat related note here is my Circular thought to GTI:

I want something with a good auto and practicality that’s not too expensive; “I should get a used GTI; I could probably get something CPO from late mk6 for $13,000ish.”

Next thought, “we’ll i could just go for a Sportwagen S 4Motion, give up some speed for space and awd; barely used 2017s are going for $17,000.”

Next thought “well if I were going to spend that much I should just get a 2015 A3 Quattro; speed of the GTI with awd; who needs practicality; the sedan looks awesome ”

Final thought to complete the circle. “ Wait wait wait; I’d probably rather save $3- 4,000 and get the compromise that is the GTI; almost as spacious as the wagon, as fun as the A3. That’s the car for me.”

And on it goes...
